World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work was created by the International Labour Organisation and is celebrated each year! This day promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and injuries at work worldwide. The aim is to raise awareness of different workplace risks and educate on how to prevent them.

What is the theme for World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025?

The Impacts of Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence on workers’ safety and health.

As we race into a world of further technological progression and the advancement of AI, it is crucial to consider how these technologies will affect the safety and health of workers across the globe.

How does AI positively impact Health and Safety?

One of the positives that stand out the most are the automation of hazardous tasks which would have otherwise put workers at risk. Utilising Artificial Intelligence to take over tasks which can lead to stress and injuries can greatly improve the working environment.

Another important advantage AI brings to the table is the ability to analyse vast amounts of Health and Safety data and identify patterns. For example, AI is able to analyse CCTV footage and identify patterns of behaviour which are likely to lead to an accident or incident. This discovery can then be utilised by companies and businesses to inform their workers of these potentially endangering behaviours, overall reducing their risk of harm.

What are the potential risks of AI?

In industries across the globe, the fear of job insecurity that AI poses is a real threat to workers. Whilst AI is a fantastic tool for business efficiency, 75% of employees fear AI could render certain jobs obsolete, and 65% are uneasy about AI replacing their roles.

But that’s not the only factor causing workers unease, constant surveillance by AI of workers for analysis can lead to feelings of stress and distrust. A report highlighted that such monitoring tools, often integrated into management software, negatively impact workers’ wellbeing.
